History of the Fraternal Order of Police
|
In the year of 1915, a group of Police Officers from Pittsburgh, Pa. formed the first Fraternal Order of Police Lodge. Shortly after that, F.O.P. became a national organization with lodges in every state of the U.S. There are also lodges overseas making the F.O.P. International.
Around 1960, here in Omaha, The Omaha Police Department formed the first F.O.P. Lodge in Nebraska. The Lodge was formed to assist and aid Police Officers and their families in times of need. We now have over 26 Lodges in the State of Nebraska.
In Omaha, Lodge #1 has over 650 active lodge members. Along with Lodge #1 is an Auxiliary Lodge consisting mainly of spouses of Omaha Police Officers. Also along with Omaha Lodge #1 is an Associate Lodge made up of workers and businessmen in the surrounding area.
Our members pay dues to belong to The Lodge, but our real support comes from people like you who support us throughout the year. For this we sincerely thank you.
Best wishes to you and yours,
Fraternally, Members of Lodge #1
